Twenty-four years strong as a power metal force with aspects of speed, thrash and traditional nuances, MYSTIC PROPHECY is a proven, reliable entity when it comes to longevity, consistency and work ethic. The band manages to successfully mix thrash influences with classic heavy metal. This made MYSTIC PROPHECY stand out among all the other thirteen-in-a-dozen bands in the same genre.

MYSTIC PROPHECY managed to deliver a great performance at Metropool in Enschede last Friday with lots of headbangable riffs, catchy melodies and rocking solos. The riff masters proved themselves in rousing stuff like “Unholy Hell” and ‘’Killhammer’’.

Both guitarists were on fire and embellished every song with the necessary fireworks, while the rhythm section remained outrageously tight. What really stood out was the driving force and brilliant vocal work of Mr. Liapaki creating hooks that will demand your attention. His vocal range is lower than many power metal vocalists, but he can still soar high when the music calls for it. This allows him to match the aggression of these heaviest of metal songs while also crafting memorable sing-along choruses like the  Maiden-esque “Hail to the King”.  Their flammable performance remained energetic from start to finish. In short, MYSTIC PROPHECY offered a rock-solid, steely heavy metal!

The second band of the evening released a new studio album called ‘’Firestar‘’ in October 2023. IRON SAVIOR is a German metal band formed in Hamburg in 1996. For many people, it was the first time they’ve got a taste of what an IRON SAVIOR concert entails, as the group tours only sparsely and mostly sticks to its home country of Germany. It turned out that their music is also very enjoyable live, and the group is as solid during the show. From a not too big stage, without all kinds of fuss, but with an ample amount of enthusiasm.

It’s barn-burning, planet-scorching power metal with a super aggressive edge that sits closer to Jag Panzer or Agent Steel than Helloween or Gamma Ray. Guitars crunch, drums pound, and Sielck’s rough, raspy voice pilots it all with grace and charm. His voice doesn’t seem to have worn out after all these years.

With ease the gentlemen work through a strong set that can count on much acclaim from the audience. With great enthusiasm they finished their performance with the well-known Judas Priest classic ‘’Breaking The Law’’.

Tired of the simplicity of contemporary music, this Dutch-German band REVELATIONS has had the epiphany to motivate the audience to listen to Progressive Rock with attention again. Complex chord progressions and drum beats combined with female vocals and lyrics that tell a real story is what REVELATIONS is all about. Filled with atmospheric guitar sounds, synthesizers and also classical influences, REVELATIONS takes you to timeless sounds. It was a decent opener act of the night.
