The finale of the Dutch Metal Battle had two winners: Illusionless and Impalement. They demonstrated that metal music is alive and kicking in this tiny country on the North Sea.

On Saturday, April 5th, the grand finale of the Metal Battle 2014 took place at Poppodium Atak in Enschede. The three winners of the semi-finals of this underground metalcontest competed for the title of “Metal Battle winner 2014”. They were: Destitution (Groningen/Friesland), Illusionless (South Holland) and Impalement (Gelderland).
There was a jury prize and an audience award. The winner of the jury prize was selected by people well known in the Dutch metal scene, such as Rowan Roodbaert, bass player of Heidevolk, Rene Brugmans of Stonehenge and Ellen of Snook Bookings. While the jury was discussing the results, the audience was entertained by Downfall of Empires, the winner of Metal Battle 2013.
Impalement won the audience award and we will see them at Occultfest. The winner of the jury award was Illusionless. We will be seeing more of these guys this summer at Stonehenge and at Wacken metal battle.
We thank the Enschede Headbangers Organization, Noord Geldersch Metaal and Occultfest for organizing this annual event. Up to next year!
