Despite so many negativity in the media from dissapointed fans around the globe regarding the new album of Morbid Angel,Illud Divinum Insanus, it wasn't an empty show. The opening act was from the dutch metal band, The Monolith Deathcult. After they entertained us with some powerful deathmetal, it was the turn for Morbid Angel to appear on stage.
There was no Pete Sandoval, no latex on stage ....but only pure raw extreme metal. 90% of the setlist consisted of purely classical songs, they played only a few new songs, which wasn't bad at all. They proved to the fans that they still got lots of potential. It was a successful gig, where all uncertainty among the fans was washed away. Fans had the chance to see for themselves what they are still capable of. The point of Morbid Angel was clear: don't follow the herd! After a few performances in Europe, we noticed that all the negativity in the media has diminished drastically. Vincent's vocals of course are still as good as they come. And the riffs are definitely there, Trey always delivers. New drummer, Tim Yeung, is simply amazing. All in all, they are back, as hellish as ever!
