Deathkult Open Air is an Underground Black metal festival held in Thuringia, not far from the Czech and Polish borders, in the hamlet Gölnitz. Here, in the middel of nowhere, amidst vast, bright yellow flowering, rape seed fields the Beast can rage without bothering civilization. Unfortunately we had to defy many traffic jams and losing our way, so we missed the two opening acts and, much to our grieve, the Serbian band The Stone. After a tame Dies Ater on stage the Brazilian old hands of extreme metal Vulcano, brought the audience in the right mood for headliner Nifelheim. The Swedish black metal twins with their new line up were in the best shape ever and their performance was utterly delightful. We were sung asleep after midnight by the Greek band Acherontas. The majority of the audience, including your reporter, later was of the opinion that Nifelheim was by far the most impressing act of this festival.
